‘Let your camera do the talking…’
Animated talk through the exhibition of Jerwood
Photography Prize-winner Edgar Martins’ new work, and get some top
tips on making an impression with your own photo album. And taste the
diversity of Brixton with Colombian snacks and coffee.
3 pm - Danielle
Arnaud
‘The making of Wild West’
Join us for tea and cakes and discuss with the
artists the production of Wild West, five animation films by Suky Best
and Rory Hamilton based on classic Western movies.
5 pm - 198 Gallery
‘A one-to-one with the artist’
A brief gallery talk on the history and mission
of the 198, followed by the artist talking about her work. Plus an opportunity
for you to get into a 10 minute ‘one-to-one’ conversation
with the artist. All accompanied by copious amounts of wine and nibbles
to get you in the mood for Saturday night.

‘Five heads are better than one’
The exhibition Human Nature looks at the relationship
between our ‘natural’ instincts as human beings and the way
we are expected to behave in certain historical places or social situations.
Come and share a cup of tea (or glass of wine!) with the five curators
of the show who will be on hand to chat about the work and the ideas behind
the exhibition.
1pm - Cafe Gallery
Projects London
‘Art and the park’
Brief introduction to the gallery and its history
followed by viewing the exhibition. Artist and gallery staff will be available
to chat about the work whilst you enjoy refreshments before joining a
guided tour of Southwark Park, London’s first Metropolitan park.
2 pm - Beaconsfield
‘Developing ideas’
Come and join this relaxed discussion with the
artists that founded and still direct this experimental art space, whilst
drinking cappuccino and eating cakes in their cosy café.
4 pm - Gasworks
‘Gallery tour at cocktail hour’
Informal gallery tour, led by a member of Gasworks,
sharing their personal views on the work showing by artist Anna Barriball.
And yes, the Gasworks cocktail makers and shakers will be keeping you
uplifted and refreshed throughout.

‘Be an art critic for the afternoon’
Two art reviewers share their tips and tools and
offer different ways to think about what you see in a contemporary art
gallery. Start by reviewing 2004 Becks Futures winner Saskia Olde Wolbers’
show at the SLG and give a critical edge to your opinions of the other
work you are seeing over the weekends.
